Hum- i phries, Jucld, Casey (s.), 19. Totals—Newtown, 68; Hutt, 76. KHANDALLAH CLUB. A few weeks ago'the fact was chron-. icled in these columns that Mr. J. A. Plimmer , had .released the. Khandallah Club of a debt of £200, conditionally on £240 worth of debentures being.surrenderee! by the holders without loss to the club: This was done, and at once the club was relieved of a debt of £450. To mark Mr.. Plimmer's generous act, that gentleman' was; entertained at. a dinner by members of the club on Wednesday evening, when Mr. Plimmer was made a life member or the club., and presented with a very handsome illuminated address; which expresesd the-re-gard in which ho was 'held; • The president of the club (Mr. C. Crump) presided, and proposed the health of tho guest of the evening, which was drunk with great enthusiasm, and to the accompaniment of that genial Tefrain' '"For .He's>a Jolly Good Fellow." . /
SWIMMING.
WELLINGTON CLUB'S MEETING,
On account of most of tho members; of the Wellington Swimming Club having joined the advance Expeditionary Force, the, affairs of the club have been in an unfortunate condition this season. Tho annual general meeting was to have been held on Friday, November 13, but it lapsed for want of a quorum, but after discussion those .present decided to elect officers, making a provision, however, that the appointments would be subject to at-., a, special general meeting of members,' which was held last evening. There was a full attendance of members, and it was decided not to confirm the previous meoting's actions.. Subsequently it was .resolved tliat a fresh election should be held, and that last evening's meeting should be declared' the annual general meeting. _ .-■■■- The'election of officers resulted asfol-. lows:—President, Mr. D. K. Blair; vice-presidents; the same as last year, with the names of Messrs. J. P. Luke, W. E. Jackson, and W. Cowan added; captain, Mr. R. J. Grimmett; deputy captain, Mr. A. Russell; hon. secretary, Mr. A. E. Ballard; hon. treasurer, Mr. A. M. Farnall; auditor, Mr. H. Oavill; starter,-Mr. Jacobs; check starter, Mr. N. J. Edmunds; handicappers, Messrs. T. Raynor and R. J. Grimmett ; executive committee, Messrs. G. Neal, W. C. CoJliep, T. Raynor, N. J. Edmunds, and —. Kelly; delegate to tie ■Wellington Centre, Mr. T. Shields. Several new members were elected.,
The formal- opening of the club will take place at Te Aro Baths to-morrow afternoon.'.
RIFLE-SHOOTING
: The Wellington Old Navals Defence Rifle Club will fire a match, 12 • men a 6ide, with the Defence Staff Rifle Club on the Miramar Range on Saturday afternoon.' The conditions, will be seven shots aiid a sighter'at each 300, 600, and 600 yards. The team representing the Old Naval Club will bo ns l follows .-—-President J. Rabe, Deputy-President W. Harris, and Riflemen F. E. Fianklyn, F. Standidge, A. Guise, G. Dell, M. Hugo, C. Hugo, R. Pringle, R. Bishop, R. C.'Collins, P. M. Campbell; emergency, H. Mason. For those members not participating in the above match, President J. Rabe has presented a trophy to be'competed for in a handicap match over the same ranges. '
FOOTBALL AMALGAMATION SCHEME

The Rugby League is considering the report from a conference, held in 'Melbourne on- November -2, with regard to. the amalgamation of football under the League and Australian rules.
