VICTORIA COLLEGE COUNCIL
Messrs, H. H.,Ostler (chairman), C. B. Morison, W. H. Morton, W. Ferguson, T. Fleming, W. A. Evans, C. Wilson,'A. R. Atkinson, Dr. C. M. Hector, Dr. Prendorgast Knight, and Sir Robert Stout were present at the .monthly meeting of the Viotoria College Council held last evening. A letter was received from Professor T. H. Laby thanking the council for :ts letter of congratulation on his appointment to the Chair of Natural Philosophy in the University of Melbourne, and expressing his regret at his severance from the College, where he hoped he had helped to build up the physios class. The ohairman read a letter which he had forwarded to* the Public Trustee as chairman of the Macarthy Trust, amplifying the application of the College Council for an additional grant for the purpose of ■, setting up a Chair of Economics and History. The letter was ap--1 proved. • On the recommendation of the Finance and General Purposes Committee the following report was adopted:— . That the time-table of lectures for 1915 submitted by the Professorial Board be approved.: That the following amendments to the library regulations be approved: (1) That Regulation 5 (c) read:"Students- who have paid the College fee for the current year." (2) That the following note to be inserted after 5 (d) be approved: Persons entitled under (c) and (d) using tho library for tho first time must report themselves-to the librarian.. (3) That Regulation 8 be amended by the addition of the following words, "except law reports, which shall bo replaced on the shelves." That the accounts for the month, amounting to £907 15e. 4d., as scheduled, be passed for payment.
