DBMPSEY MAKES A CENTURY;. The mid-week players began tho second round ;i their competitions; oii the Basin Reserve yesterday afternoon in glorious weather, and the wickets .were in first-class condition. In tho RivalUnion match, Rivals, batting first, put together 213., of which Wilson, with a well played 65,, was top scorer. His score included two 6's, two 4's, and ten 3's. Becchey's 45 not out was a fine innings, while both M'Kenzie and George placed well. Union bo far have lost two wickets for 90 (Taylor not out 44, and Warne not out 32). •, s In tho Oriental A and B match the B's, batting first, were all disposed of for 101, of which the brothers Christopfcerson were top scorers. V. Gh'ristopherson made 41 by good play before Martin, got a ball'past lu'a defence. B. Christopherson, after making 27, fell a victim to the same bowler. Tho A's so far have lost six wickets for 196, of which Dempsey is top scored with 101 not out. Hβ hit twenty-three 3's. Cording was' the only other one who Rave the bowlers trouble, making 43 before falling to a good catch by Luxford in. the deep-field.
