Turkey states that she closed the Dardanelles because England announced that unless German officers were removed from Turkish warships it would be regarded as a hostile act, and Turkey ■would be liable to,attack.— ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) A TURKISH COAL SUPPLY CUT OFF. (Eec. November 17, 6.55 p.m.) London, November 17. An Athens report states that the Russian Fleet's recent bombardment has rendered the Turkish coal-mines at Snnguldiak (on the Black Sea) unworkable. This is a serious matter for the Turkish Navy and railways, as these are the only coal-mines in the country.
