MASTERTON NOTES.
Messrs. "W. G. Groves and H, H. S. Rvder have been elected councillors tor the south riduig of the- Castlepoint County, and Messrs. Arthur Brightwoll and S. Schofield councillors for the east riding. ,■■ ' Owing to the war in Europe, the proposal to hold' a big fair in Mastertan has been abandoned for a time. A warm rain fell in this district on Sunday night, but it was quite insufficient, and nothing short of a twentyfour hours' steady downpour will save the farmere from heavy loss._ ' The Masterton Lawn Tennis Club defeated Maryborough on Saturday last by sixteen games to four. "The Opaki Rifle Club commenced their fortnightly competitions Inst week. In the Thursday equad, Rifleman R. J. King was top score with 100 out of 105, and in the Saturday squad Rifleman H.
