PAHIATUA NOTES
A branch of the Hibernian Society was opened in Pahiatua on Sunday by Bro. P. D. Hoskins, district deputy of the society, from Wellington. The name allotted to the new branch was St. Brigid's. The following officers were appointed:—-President, Bro. H.. M'Sherry; vice-president, Bro. D. O'Rourke; secretary, Bro. D. Boyle; treasurer, Bro. A. Hayden; warden, Bro. E. Flavin; guardian, Bro. A. Finch ;■ trustees, Bros. M'Sherry, O'Sourke,, and E. Finch. ' The Her. M. Bawden Harris, of Pahiatua, and Mr. H. Bloorafield, Presbyterian Home Missioner at Pongaroa, will attend tho Presbyterian,. General Assembly at Dunediu this month. The Rev. It. Richards and F. Cresswell (Methodist) -will attend the Methodist Synod to be held at Fcilding. A mild soaking rain, lasting for a .period of about 20 hours, fell in tho Pahiatuu district on Sunday. The rain was welcomed by the dairy farmers in this district. Two rinks from the Daunevirkeßowl- | ing Club will visit Pahiatua on Wednesday £ to take part in the-first contest this season for the Runhine pen-j-nnts. i Tho formal opening of tho Eketahuiia Bowling Club's .green will tako place on Thursday. A number of Pahiatua trumllcrs intend being present.
