No fewer than twenty-one persons were dealt with for drunkenness at the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning, before Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M.Thirteen, including two women and a member of the Expeditionary Force,, were first offenders, and were dealt with in. the usual manner. Annie Walsh was fined £1, in default.three days' imprisonment, and was prohibited. Others were convicted and dealt with as under :—Peter Mulcahy, 405., ' or seven days' imprisonment; John Hyde, 405., or fourteen days'; Peter Morrison, 10s., or hours'; Louis Durholt, 405., or fourteen days'; ,John M'Kinnon, a prohibited person with five previous convictions, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment with hard labour; John White, 10s., or forty-eight hours' imprisonment; John James Hiting and entering the premises of John Kent.. For a breach of his prohibition order, John Hamilton was bned 205., in default three days' imprisonment. . For obscene language, Hugh Mayne was fined' £3, in default fourteen days' imprisonment. ,-. ■
Mary Irene Williams, for procuring
liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, and Mary Jane Legge for assisting the above accused, were each finod £1, in default thre,e days' imprisonment.
