According to the messago of October 31 (from Constantinople via Amsterdam), the Turkish squadron sank the Russian mine-layer Prut, with seven hundred mines aboard, torpedoed and sank a Russian destroyer, captured another vessel, and damaged a torpedo coastguard ship. The Turks sustained no loss. The Prut was a ship of 5500 tons, armed with eight 3-poundcr and two 1-pounder guns. '
