NAVALS' BOATING SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING. . The annual meeting of the Wellington Navals' Boating Sooiety was held in the boat station, Jervois Quay,.' last night. Mr. W. Jtl. Morton presided. The annual report, already published, was adopted. In commenting on the annual report, the chairman, said he was glad to see that tho society was in as strong a position as ever. The membership stood at 130, and from present indications the prospects for the future were very encouraging. There was one thing, he said, he must refer to, and that was the manner in which old members of the company had volunteered for duty at the forts. It seemed to the speaker that the publio did not realise the sacrifice which members of the company" had made. The chairman complimented the members on the manner in whicl . they had . stuck together, ; As the outcome of a discussion as to the positions of the Navals' Rifle Club and the Navals' Boating Society, Mr. Morton moved:—"That an instruction be given to the incoming boat station committee to meet those who are carrying on. the Rifle Club with a view to bringing about; if possible, the incorporation of the Rrflo Club with the Boating Society." ' The motion was carried. ...
