AT WELIINGTON HOSPITAL,

During the present week another useful department lias been added to tho many activities of the Wellington Hospital. For some'tiifle past the advisability of having a dental branch attached to the General Hospital has heart under consideration, and eftfly in the present year the board decided that such a department would be a distinct gain and a very great convenience and assistance to the work of that instittt-' tiott, owing to the number of complaiilts arising from defective teeth. A surgery, complete in every essential detail," has now been established in thd building at the old entrance to the Hospital grounds that Was formerly used for the purposes , of the outpatients' department. - Thiree chairs, a workroom, and & (modern equipment have been provided, and the surgery is now ready to receive patients. lhe dental Burgeon in charge is Mr. Es Gordon Bender, • who • will have the assistance of twenty-one honorary dental surgeons, selected from;dental practitioners in Wellington and the Hutt, who have already met, and. arranged a rota of attendance.-

The fees, arranged on a minimum scale, are as follows Consultation, 2s. (id.; extraction with local anaesthetic* Is.; amalgam filling, 2s. 6d. and 3s. 63.; gas extractions, 2s. 6d.: visits in connection with abscess cases, etc., 2s. 6d.; continuous gas or heavy anaestpe-' tic cases, 10s.; vulcanite work, first tooth, 7s. 6d.; each additional tooth, 25.": full upper vulcanite denture, £2 25.; full lower ditto, £2 2s. Cards for admission to the Hospital dental surgery will be issued by any dental surgeon in Wellington on tho patient protesting his incapacity or willingness to pay the ordinary professional charges. Tho hours of attendance will be as followOn . Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 8.45 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Thursdays (extractions only), from 8.45 a.m. to 10 a.m. '
