(From Our Own Correspondent,) The members if St.' James's 'Choir (Lower Hu'tt) held'another of their musical" evenings at the rosidence of Miss Parsons, Pretoria Street, last evening, and spent a veT.y enjoyable time. The Pebi'io Salvation Army has jiist concluded' its self-denial appeal. The amount collected in Petono, exclusive of Lower .Hutt and. Hutt Yalley, was £85. This is considered most satisfactory in view of tho many other_ calls that are being made upon the citizens. ■'The Picnic Committee in connection with the Binployees of the Getjr Company, has decided to donate the profits of.'its-next-'gathering to the Belgium. Relief Fund,' A special effort is to be put forth to make the function attractive, and it is understood that ! the I'etone schools will be asked to close for tho day. Tho amounts collected by the Petone schools for the Belgium Fund are as follow:—Main School,- £27 Gs.; Petone West, £20 2s. lid. ;■ Koro-Koro, £2 75.; a little girl, 3s. 7d.; total, £49 18s. 6d. Three sympathisers have since brought this .up"to £50. { ..' The examination of tlie members of tho newly formed: Ladies' Ambulance Class at Lower Hutt will take place , next Tuesday evening.
