Dr. Gribberi, Deputy-Inspector-General of Mental Hospitals, left by tho Pateena yesterday on a visit of inspection to Nelson. Mr. Nat. Gould, a fourth-year 'stufent of Dunedin, has been appointed second assistant medical .officer in the Napier Hospital. ' At last evening's meeting of the Wel- ; lington Patriotio Sports and Entertainment Committee, Mr. H. Amos, tho secretary of the . committee, was presented, with a'gold watch in. recognition ' of'.his 6emoes "in the movement: The chairman of the .committee (Mr. 0. P. Skerrott, K. 0.) spoke in terms of ■ praise of Mr. Amos's work for ' the cause, and said that the present was a very | slight token of the committee's appreciation and gratitude. The present is from the members of the committee personally* Dr. R. M'Nab yesterday reoeived a' cablegram. from England, stating that his brother, Dr. Angus M'Nab, was killed, in action on tho French frontier on Friday week. Dr. Angus M'Nab had served in the Boer War, and was ophthalmic surgeon in the Charing Cross Ophthalmic Hospital, London, and practised in Harley" Street, London. He had been educated in. Berlin and ■Vienna, and was an accomplished French and German scholar. He published a work \ipon the eye, and translated into English a.i celebrated German, work on the same subject. He leaves a widow and two little children.
