OUR FROZEN CARGOES
THE SUPPLY OF SHIPS. : A cablegram was published, on Saturday morning to the effect that the Admiralty were commandeering increasing numbers of vessels with refrigerated space. ' It was further stated that 'the shipowners were not objecting as they found a difficulty in collecting increased freights from, Australia and New Zealand. 1 This. cablegram was referred to the Prime Minister : by a Dominion reporter on Saturday; a Mr. Massey stated that the 'information it conveyed did not tally with whai had come to him as a result of representations made to the Home authorities. Oh the contrary, the Admiralty had lately released a steamer (tha Muritai), a ship with refrigerated space, generally in the New Zealand trade, which had formerly been cominandeered for the transport of supplies, and this had been done in response to representations made by him. He stated also that the shipping companies had shown a desire to co-operate with- him to maintain an adequate service of steamers to carry our produce Home. ■ '
