THE SEA FIGHT OFF ' VALPARAISO OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED LOSS OF CRUISER GOOD HOPE BATTLE IN BELGIUM' ' THRILLING ACCOUNTS OF BRITISH VALOUR GREAT RUSSIAN VICTORY , biggest triumph of the war' \ The outstanding feature of to-day's war news is the great Russian viotory in Galicia. Wo have heard of the progress of the rumours in this region, but the extent of their successes was but dimly foreshadowed as oompared with to-day's messages. It .is, according to the Russian Commander-in-Chief, the most important victory in tho Eastern theatre of war since the outbreak of the war. Tsing-tac- has at last fallen to the, Allies assaults, and this heavy blow to Germany's overseas' interests- has been struck at comparatively small cost. Confirmation of the naval engagement off V alparaiso is to hand, and it is now clear that the British cruiser Good Hope has been lost, while the fate of the Monmouth remains in doubt. Apparently she i 6 agiound somewhere along the South American coast. In Belgium and Fiance there has been further violent fighting, and the enemy has been everywhere repulsed, while at scv oral l points tho Allies have gained ground. Turkish activities have not produced any sensational results yet, but there have been losses of shipping on both sides, and several Turkish towns have been bombarded by the Russian fleet in the Black Sea.
