A Pahlatua Wedding. Our Pahiatua correspondent states that in iho presence of a number of relatives and friends the marriage took place in Pahiatua on Wednesday of Mr. Leonard D. Carey, of Marten, to Miss Annio (Tiny) Dick, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Dick, of "Sefton Farm," Ngafcuri. The bride, who wore it orenin Sicilian costume, with hat to match, was given away by her brother, Mr. William Dick, at whoso residence tho ceremony took place. She carried a bouquet and was attended by her niece, Miss Myrtle Parker, of Makuri, as bridesmaid. The latter wore a white embroidered robe, and hat to match. She carried a bouquet and wore a gold brooch, tho gift of the bridegroom, llr. William Carey; brother of the bridegroom, anted as best man. The Rev. M. Bawden Harris, of the Presbyterian Church, officiated. At tho subsequent breakfast, the health, of the happy oouple was duly honoured, and speeches of a congratulatory nature were made. For some time past the bride had aoted as postmistress and telephonist 'at Ngatun. Mr. Und Mrs. Carey left for their new homo at Martony accompanied by many good wishes for their future welfare. . i «' Hamilton Notes. A correspondent from Hamilton writeb that the Hamilton Croquet Club was formally opened on Saturday last. The day was perfect, and a large gathering , assembled, members from Cambridge, Morrinsville, and Whitiora Clubs being present. The courts were in excellent order, and progressive croquet was played all the afternoon. Afternoon tea: was much appreciated, and the commit: toe spared no pains to make tho afternoon a success. Among those present were: Mesdames T. Jolly, Hyde, G. MacLeod, Osborne, A. L: Yule, 0. B. Smith, Dewhirst, Ward, Wilson, Owens, Rawson, Warren, F. Jolly, Stewart, Furze, Heenan, Coleman, Bennett, Forbes, Ferguson, Platt, Ward (Palmerston North), Gresham, Mackay, M'Garry, Ewen, Bull, Stevens, and Hawthorne, and the Misses Watty, L. Wilson, Stevens, and Wallnutt. St. Andrew's Tennis Club was- officially opened by the president (Mr. Campbell M'Diarmid). Afternoon tea was. given by Miss Wood. The, courts were engaged all the afternoon, and a very enjoyable time was spent. : Mrs. Ward (Palmerston, North) is at present the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ward, Bank of Australasia. Miss J. Primrose M'Connell, of Ruakura,' is spending a holiday with her rolatives, Dr. and Mrs. Derrick, of the Thames.
