DEFAULTING TERRITORIALS
, .■ .—, fr- . FINES IMPOSED. It is some months now since any defaulting Territorials have appeared before the Magistrate, this being due to the concentration of attention on the war. Yesterday, however, a motloy collection of, sprouting manhood came bofore the Magistrate, and had various sentences meted out to them. An oxplained that/as there would be no one in charge, the- default sentence of detention at the barraoks conld not be carried out. . In consequence of this only fines were imposed by the-Magistrate. It was stated that there is still a considerable number of.-young men not enrolled and that proceedings would shortly be taken against a- number of them. Finos- wero imposed as follow:— Michael Francis M'Hugh, George Wm. Turner, each £1, with costs 7s. j Edward Jones Ash, Arthur Cudby, Alexander ■M'Garlie, and Thomas Grey Campbell, 55., with costs; George Hopkins, ordered to pay Cmvrt costs, 75.; and Joseph By'rno, convictedTOid discharged. Albert G. -Matthews, for obstructing drill-of tho 39th Company on July 24, fined 55., with costs 9s.
