The Prime Minister has received the following statement,from tho New Zea- - land High Commissioner relative to events in South Africa:— > n .._ • London, November 3. .- - rhe Hon. Sydney Buxton, reports that Colonel Britz sent a patrol of SO ; ..men in the direction of' Schritz Drift, where they encountered 150 of Maritz's men; The .patrol captured eight of t Maritz's. men, and also reported' that Maritz lost several killed and wounded ; no details are availablo; no losses' to the British. Captain Benkes and Lieutenant Furcher, with 50 men of the forces raised-in Namaqualand, surreih I ' dered voluntarily, and were brought to bpniiigbok- by Commandant Studer. '.'
