The Victorian Racing Club's Spring Carnival was continued to-day :in tint, weather. The tracks were good, anil no reduction in the numbers attending was discernible; on the contrary, thousands of additional spectators were on the flat. All,the Government Houso parties were present, the only notable absentees being the naval officers; Tho Cup race was run in record time, ljsec. less than Piastre's timeIt was a very tired field that, capitulated'to the outsider, who fought out a great finish with Sir Alwynton. The winner Was lying handy at the bridge, and he spurted through to head the field when the turn was reached. The genera] opinion was that he headed the held,too early,-and would fail at the last, but by a iriagriificent effort ha maintained the lead, and won. At the bridge,: Cagou was. running second to Posinatus, the next being'lndiscretion, Carlita, Sir Solo, and -Kingsburgh, with' Rathlea last. Kingsburgh led round the turn, from Sir Alwynton, Uncle' Sam, Giru, Posinatus, Carlita, and Moonbria. Sir Alwynton maintained his challenge, but Kingsburgh won by a neck. Moonbria was a length and a half away third,- St. Carwyno fourth, Ulva's Isle fifth, Uncle Sam sixth, and Rathlea last. Time, 3min.. 26sec—a record for the race.. ~'.
