LOCAL CONTROL'S ANNUAL' ; MEETING. The seventeenth annual meeting of the Wellington Wednesday Cricket Association was held last evening, Mr. A. J. Williamson presiding. .There was a full attendance of delegates. The annual report, which was adopted, stated that the senior championship for the Simmonds and Osborne Shield had been oompeted for' by four teams, and won by the Artillery Club, Rivals Club being' again the runner-up. _ The junior championship for the Winder Cup : brought out eight teams, and had been won by George and George's Club, Oriental Club being the runner-up. The annual senior fixtures with Canterbury and/Auckland were played during'the -Season. The Canterbury match was played at Christchurch, and resulted in a draw. The match with Auckland was plaved here, "Wellington winning by m innings and 159 runs. A match had been played between a' junior team and a team from the Saturday outside Junior Association. The committee trusted that this, will be made.an annual fixture. The committee; tendered their thanks to,: all those who, had- asfisted during the pakt season. The following were the highest _ batting and-bowling averages of individual members of clubs in tho senior compoti-, tion last season:—. .. -1 Batting—Wilson (Artillery), 47; Warne (Union), 44.7; Kinvig (Rivals), 61.7; Truscott 19.5. . Bowling—Beard (Artillery), 7 runs per wicket; Novin (R-ivals), 7.B;'M'Girr (Union), 8.6; Deinpsey (Oriental), 12.8.', It was announced that four senior and. five junior, teams, had entered for the, competitions, jtnd it was decided that the season be ojsened to-morrow. ; A letter was received from the. Wairarapa 1 Association asking for a match against Wellington the ' New Year holidays. It was resolved to'' hold the matter over pro tem. . On the motion of Mr. T. Grouch; it Was resolved that tho number of Sat-' urday players in • the various senior blubs be unlimited. Mr. J. C. Cusack, having retired from' the . office . of secretary after having held the position for six years, .was accorded a jiearty vote of thank 6 for services rendered. Several speakers referred to Mr. Cusack's.. 'admirable qualities, 1 and for the work' wliioh he .has done for the.promotion of 'Wednes-, flay cricket in Wellington. As a mark' of appreciation tho 'retiring secretary was presented with a small token of esteem. ■'
