Mr. Graham Moffat and his party •left' for Cliristchurch last Friday; evening, and were fardwelled by the committeemen of the Scottish Society of Wellington. During their sojourn in Wellington the comedian and • his; family were the guests of; the committee. They wcrp met on\arrival by the chief (Mr. 0. Ijdster) and other officers, and 'in the evening were played -ft) the Opera House by the, society's pipers, On the Sunday an outing was arranged, and a party numbering thirty odd, including the society's pipers, to Belle,.Vuo' Gardens for luncheon. A pleasant", timo' was spent iii tho beautiful grounds, and the .'drive was then, continued to ikiwry. Bay.- After spending some, time on the beaoh, during i which the pipers played several selections, the party returned to the : gardens for afternoon , tea, .'and left for , town about .5 p.m. . Mr. Moffat and his family were elected .to the positions of honorary chieftain and honorary members of tho society, respectively. They greatly , appreciated : the honour and hospitality Bhown them, inasmuch as .Mr. Moffat has given a ■ silver 'cup for. Highland dancing to be competed for annually, and has left the entire arrangements in the hands of .the Scottish Society of Wellington.
