An ill-assorted trio, Horbert G. Ashby, John Batt, and Sonny Pixley, who had a "mix-up" at.tho Bank of Now. Zealand corner,on. Saturday night, •wore-charged with using threatening behaviour. Each was fined 10s. or 48 hours. Sonny.-iPixley,was 'further, charged with
using obscene language, and was fined £3 or 14 days.
- OTHER OASES. * Alexander M'Auley, who for some unaccountable, reason broke a Pane of glass in the'preoiises of Alfred Chamborlain, was fined 10s., and ordered to pay the damage" done, 55., in default three days' gaol. The chaxge against Valda de Barra of occupying premises in Vivian Street and allowing them to be used as a brothel, ivas, on the application of Mr. P. W. Jackson, remanded to November 9. James Moore'was fined 1 £3or 14 days for-using obscene language.
: ' INEBRIATES. . - William Ballantyne, who had been drinking heavily-for the past fortnight, was charged wjth drunkenness and three breaches of his prohibition order. On the first charge he was fined £2 or one month's gaol, and on each of the others find' 205., or three days. Thd- alternatives to be concurrent.;: •■■'•■
For drunkenness Hugh Ross, ; Patrick Mahoney, ; and- Elizabeth Lindsay Murphy, (prohibited) were each ; fined 205., or three days; Annie Walshe and Andrew Davidson, wera eaoh finedrlOs., or 48 hours.' Ten' first : offenders .were dealt with for drunkenness. One, a .Sunday drunkard,was fined 55., or 24 hours. Wm. John Jahics'Thomas was sentenced to 30 days' imprisonment for disobeying a ..maintenance .order, the warrant/'to be suspended on the payment of 2s. 6d. q. week off the arrears (£33). A similar penalty was imposed on him on another charged tho arrears in respect, to which wero £29. • I Wm.'..Dryden Oliver,' for disobeying an order in favour of his wife, was sentenced to 14 days' gaol; the warrant to be suspended on payment of 2s. 6d. a week oft the arrears (£l6). • Malcolm M'Donald was sentenced - to three days' gaol for disobeying a maintenance order (arrears £7 lis.), the •warrant to bo suspended on the .payment of 2s. 6d. a week off the arrears.' Similarly charged, Charles Ogier was ordered to be imprisoned for 14 days, the warrant to be suspended on the payment of 2s. a week off the arrears (£l2 8s.); Simon John Gulleiy to be imprisoned.for 30 days, warrant to bo suspended ®n payment of ss. per week off arrears (£29).-
An order for the payment,of 2s. 6d. per week: towards tlie maintenance of his father-was -made, .against Harold Veirigge ;Taylor. Costs, £1 Is., were allowed, complainant's solicitor.
