RIFLE-SHOOTING

OPENING OF SEASON AT TRENTHAM. To-morrow, the riflo range;at Trentham .will bo reopened after the wintor spell. Since the close of last season, the Range Committee have effected some improvements. The target trench'_ on the "Collins" Range has been timbered and equipped 'with overhead cover, and the telephones in all the target trenches overhauled and put in good order. • Tho following arrangements have been made with the Railway Department: —To-morrow, .riflemen will be provided with reserved carriages in the front portion of the 1.20 p.m. train, and will leave on the return, by the 5.48 p.m. train from the racecourse platform. For the remainder of, the season a special train will leave Lambton at 1.40 p.'m:, and Trentham Defence siding about 6.10 p.m. To-mor-row the Petone and Karori Rifle Clubs go to Trontham, and the .Territorials will probably follow next week..- A large number of tho new men are expected on the range to-morrow, . and will receive every assistance from the older members. ■ . • •. , SUBURBS' OLUB. The following will represent the Suburbs 20-men team, against the Linton Rifles, at Palniereton North, on Monday (Laboar Day):—Hunt. Mason, Stewart, Smart, Cook, G. Winchcombe, E. 0. Lewor, Isaac, Jackson, A. Fellingham, W. Jackson, T. Caplin, Oliver, Boon, Graham, Stacey, Gawith, Jenkins,' M'Donald, W; Slaughter, Henderson J. L. Turner, R. C. Barkle. Tho club range at Miramar will be opened to members to-morrow for practice.

TJie Petone Rifle Club will hold a practice shoot at Trentham on Saturday at short ranges. Train, passes will be provided and ammunition can be procured from secretary on the train on Saturday. All members are requested to attend. In addition to the Wellington Old Naval Rifle Club's programme arranged for on Labour Day. including the miniature rifle match for members' lady friends, and a handicap match for members, tho club will also fire a match of ten men a-side with the Kurori Riflo Club, the conditions. of which will bo seven shots at each 300,. 500, and 600 yards. This latter match is timed to start at 1 p.m. The following team will.represent tho Navals' Club:—President J. Rabc, Dop.-President W. Harris. Riflemen F. E. Franklyn, F. Stan-, diage, M. Hugo, R.
