BUT DO NOT NEGLECT NEW. ZEALAND. Under date October. 20, Mr. H. F. Allen, secretary of the Wellington. Industrial Association, has written to the Central Chamber of Commerce as follows:— \ . ■ "In thia morning's'issue of The Dominion newspaper I have read that an appeal from Mr. - W. G. Wickham, British Trade Commissioner _• in New Zealand, re supporting British manufactures -was before your council at yesterday's meeting. The matter of, supporting British manufactures ■is undoubtedly of considerable importance, and the existing war will doubtless impress this fact'upon our people. L, however, wish to point out that the encouragement of our own Dominion's manufactures is also of considerable importance, and that statistics prove year after year that thousands of pounds' worth' of manufactured articles—articles which can be, and are being, manufactured in the Dominion—are imported. On behalf; then, of our Dominion's manufacturers, I appeal .to your .Chamber to bring under the notice of your members partictilars of the articles that are being so manufactured. The association appeals to all to support local and New Zealand industries.. Such nn appeal, you will agree, is perfectly justifiable." , , ' . Mr. Allen has rorwarded. a similar letter to the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. ■ ■ "
