N.S. WALES BUDGET. Sydney, October 22. Mr. Holman said that the Budget shows that the net revenue in 1913-14 was £7,348,000, and the expenditure £7,106,000. Statutory deductions left a deficit on Government transactions of £100,000. The estimated revenue for the present year was £7,325,000, and tho expenditure £7,683,000. Referring to the loan policy, Mr. Holman stated that the increase in the public debt during the year was £10,525,000, making the total indebtedness £116,965,000. Whilst the legitimate note issue was right and proper, the borrowing of large amounts, of paper money from the Federal Government could only result in financial disaster. , An indiscriminate note issue wiis one'of the prize delusions of the age, Regarding the absorption of unemployed on now wheat areas, the Premier stated that it had been .'.eroded to guarantee a definite minimum price for all wheat raised on additional areas. There would bo no compulsion to. sell to the Government; the wheat would simply be marketed in the usual way. In the House v of Assembly Mr. Lyons dehyered his first Financial Statement. The total ordinary revenue last year was a record, and amounted to £1,238,085; the expenditure was £1,235,013. Mr. Lyons proposes to derive additional ievenuo from the increment tax; amendment of the income tax, amendment of'the deceased persons' estates duties; amusements tax, amendment of the stamp duties Acts; by increasing tho percentage of the withheld prizes of Tattorsall's sweeps, and a tax on motor vehicles. rector of the New Zealand Oil Fields, Limited, has been remanded oh a charge of embezzling £7500. ' The charge is the outcome of the defendant's examination in connection with the liquidation of the company. The New Zealand Oil Field, Ltd., was formed in London to prospect for oil in tho Poverty Bay districts. The company went into liquidation a few months ago.
