The military correspondent of "The Times" says that Sir John French's dispatches should inspire. confidence 'regarding the result of the war. "We cannot discover the German shots accomplishing anything during the last two months except the destruction of /a felv forts by heavy 'guns. The Germans have not' sustained their reputation, and the Allies now have no difficulty in repulsing them. The hopelessness of the struggle is beginning to dawn on the German soldiers in the field. While they are still making 'half-hearted attacks, the .old spirit seems to have been knocked'out of them.. The loss of their officers and the appearance of second-rate troops is exorcising a disintegrating effect."—("Times and Sydney "Sun" Services.) DEPRESSED BY RESULT OF AISNE STRUGGLE. Amsterdam, October 21. The Berlin correspondent of the newspaper "De Tijd" ' says:—The Germans aro depressed by the influence of the Aisne struggle, which the capture of Antwerp,.failed to neutralise. Thoy are unable to disguise the fact that the opportunity of a Zeppelin raid on England has passed, owing to the approach of the winter storms. The Aisne battle has crippled the idea, of an invasion of England; also, the health of the German troops in France is increasingly bad. !
