ANTWERP DESERTED BY CITIZENS

Practically all the shops in Antwerp remain closed, and nine-tenths of the hcusee appear to be deserted. rile city is practically without water, and the tramway services have been suspended. The debris caused by fire and the bombardment has been rapidly cleared away, but dense smoke still rises fro in the burning petrol tanks. The destruction by the bombardment was comparatively slight, the important buildings being practically unharmed. . . " .
