THE HUNTLY DISASTER
"STILL SUB JUDICE." In the House of Representatives last evening Mr. H. Atmore asked the Minister of Mines (the Hon. W. Fraser)' whether he had at any time given iiir otructions for tho prosecution of tho proprietors of the Huntly coal-mines. Mr. Frascr said that this was scarcely a right question to ask at present. The commission that had been, appointed to inquire into tho colliery disaster had not yet presented its report, and the matter was still Eiib judice. He did not wish to prejudice the matter in any way, otherwise he would have had no hesitation in answering the question. He did not suppose it would be long before the report was available, as he understood that the whole of the evidence would bo typed this week. "I think it is for you, Mr. Speaker," added the Minister, "to say -whether the question is one that I should answer now or later on." Mr. Speaker: That is not a matter for me to decide. It is for the Minister to say -whether he will answer the question. Mr." Fraser: Well, then, sir, I -will say at once that as the matter is sub ...judico Ido not think that.the question : *"is one that I should answer now. I will have no hesitation in answering tho question at the proper time. MAYORS RELIEF FUND. £ b. d.
