Women Teachers' Pay. Tlio moiitlily meeting of the Woman , 3 Christian Temperance Union, Wellington Central, was held on Friday afternoon, Mrs. A. 11. Atkinson being in the chair. Licluded in the business of tlio meeting was a resolution which was directed to the- Minister of Education, as .follows:— "That this meeting proteste against, the failure of the Edticatiou Bill to provide equal pay for equal work, regardless of the sex of the worker, . and points oiit to tho Minister of Education that the payment of women on a lower scale on the ground that a man has a wife and family would in justice necessitate an inquiry into the number dependant on each teacher, «nd payment by a sliding scale." Members of tho Ladies' Committee of the Countess of Liverpool Fund are making good progress with the work for the Expeditionary Forces, and gifts which have bean received for the fund and for the British and Belgian Fund during the past week are acknowledged as follows:—Mrs. C. The ladies who have been working for tho Belgians, and meeting at Mrs. Kadclilfo's, Hawker Streot, wish to express their thanks to Cole's drapery linn, the Economic, and Mr. Soldi for their generous gifts of useful articles.

■ On Saturday afternoon at their residence, "Carlton House," Daniol Street, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Parton entertained a number of children, the occasion betiig the sixth birthday of their sou Leslie. A very enjoyable time wae spent, a brao-tub, games, and competitions causing ranch entertainment. Tho birthday cake had been donated to the Belgian Relief Fund; and would bo auctioned at the forthcoming Battle of Flowers.

Mrs. W. Bidwill (Pvototawai) is taking part in tho ladies' golf championchip meeting at Hcrotaunga.

Miss Cotter (Auckland) is in town for the ladies' golf tournament.

Mrs. Htmiphries (Hawke's Bay) is' visiting relatives at-the Lower Hutt. In the annual report of t!he South Wellington Nursing Division of -St. John.Ambulance Association, published: iu The Dominion of Friday last, a donation of £50 was credited to Mrs. S.
