Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided in tlio Magistrate's Court on Saturday morning. For insobriety, Elizabeth Connolly was fined 10s., nud Wililara Davis £2. Elizabeth" Brady, charged with being an incorrigible rogue, elected to bo tried by a jury, and was remanded till Wednesday. George Hume was sentenced to fourteen, days' imprisonment for the theft of a sample case and contents belonging to Arthur Roddy. For begging in Willis Street, Samuel - Fenton was sentenced to threo months' imprisonment! . v. William. Henry Hogan was lined £3 • for having assaulted Walter Smart In•'gram. i Charles Groves, who was charged with ' having obtained' £3 from Evans and ' Schwarx, drapers, by means of a false pretence, was sent to prison for ono month. Jack Dr-llimore, on a charge of having wounded Martin Beharrie, a seaman off the TJlimaroa, was remanded till October 24.
