THE SESSION
MAY NOT END THIS MONTH. It is now doubtful whether the session of Parliament will bo brought to a close by tho end of this month, as wbb expected a couple of weeks ago. There is still a great deal of business to be transacted. The progress made during the past fortnight lias been slow, biit it may bo expected that tho rate will be considerably accelerated during the next fow days. The Public Works Statement will be brought down on Tuesday evening, and the discussion on it and the Loan Bill will be taken at a subsequent sitting. The Education Bill will bo put through its remaining stages as early as possible, in ordor that it may go to the Legislative Council. Tho Legislative Council Bill, which has passed its socoml reading in tho House, is a measure which will probably take up a considerable time in Committee. The Cook Islands/Bill, which is now before tho Statutes Revision Committee, will bo reported- this week.
