£10,000 FROM CANTERBURY. TO BE SENT HOME. ■ ~ Christohuroh, October 17. At a meeting of the Christchurch Committee; of of and Ireland', and--Belgium -Relief Fund, presided over by Mr. J. B. Reid, the chairman stated that the meeting was called to'consider-the form, in'which the relief should be sent. When the fund was started, the idea was tlial no money should bo sent, but only produce,, but since then it had beon found that the prices of foodstuffs in Now 'Zealand wero so high that better .value could be got by sending the money Home. It was resolved to send Homo tlirough His Excellency tho Governor £10,000. 75 per cent, for the Britain and Ireland Fund, and 25 per cent, for Belgium relief, but any moneys specially earmarked"'for the purchase of produce, are not to be included in the sum. The amount collected and promised in Canterbury is £18,400.'
