PROCLAMATION IN SAMOA
■ CONCERNING MONEY. The following is a copy of the pro- -. olnmation mado by Colonel Logan as Administrator of Samoa making German bank notes legal tender:— "British occupation of the German territories in the Islands of the Sampan Group. "(1) It is hereby ordored that notes of various values from 5 marks to 100 marks, issued by the German State .. Banks, and now in circulation, shall, until further notice, be for all purposes . legal tendor within the occupied territories, and that dobts, howsoever incurred within the said territories, may bo discharged eithor wholly or m part by delivery to the creditors of a note or notes of tho above-mentioned description. (2) Except with the written consent of the Administrator of Samoa ; (a) No coin of any description, and no gold or silver, shall be removed from , the occupied territories; (b) No bank notes issued by any bank, firm, or government other than a British bank, firm, or government, shall bo brought into tho occupied territories. "Givon at Apia this 12th day .of". September, 1914." Tho cold snap has caused increase in the sale of "Plueiwul."* A clearing sale of general stock will ta held at Johnsonvillo by Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., on Wednesday next. The Assooiated Auctioneers sell 1000 head of cattle bv auction at their Solway, Cattto Fair, on Wednesday, October 21. '
