" WE NO LONGER EXIST " ("Times" and Syduej "Sun" Services.) ■ London, October 16. Terrible stories are told of the agony of tho people flung out of Belgium. Many aro wandering aimlessly, and are destined to live on'charity till the end of the war. A citizen of Bruges said: "What in God's name aro'we to look forward to at the end of the war? Our cities are smoking ruins; all our peasants will have to start life again elsewhere. Our country is wiped out. ! We no longer exist." DESOLATE ANTWERP. (Rec. October 13, 3.35 p.m.) Amsterdam, October 17. ; Only fifteen thousand inhabitants aro ,left in Antwerp, mostly old women. Tho women and children refugees in Holland, fear to accept the German advances,, suggesting their return, desiring some guarantee that promises that they will hot be ill-treated will be kept. It is stated at The Hague that tho Dutch Government has arranged terms with the. Antwerp military authorities whereby refugees may return to Antwerp, but Belgians liable for militaryservice will be treated as prisoners of war. V. BELGIAN ROYAL STUD. (Rec. October 17, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 17. The King of Belgium's stud and tho Royal carriages have arrived at Southampton—('."Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) : LILLE A HEAP OF RUINS. (Rec. October 18, 10.40 a.m.) Amsterdam, October 16. Lille is reported to. bo badly damaged. Tho wfiolo district near the railway station is a heap of ruins. Fire brigades from Roubaix and Turcoing and German' soldiers extinguished the flames.
