ME. C. K. WILSON AT TE KWT. 8 To KUItIJ October 17; Mr. C. K. Wilson, M.P., spoke last night to a good audience. Ho dealt with the policy of the Government, and claimed that the party had fulfilled _ffie pledges given prior to the last- election. He -pointed to tho financial improvenient, freehold tenure. Civil' Service Board, increases in salaries in various Departments, including the Railways, Police, Education, and Marine, also the extension of beneficent" legislation in respect of'pensions, as indicating a progressive and liberal policy of the Massey Government. Ho held that Mr. Massey represented progreea on sound lines. In reference to tho criticism of opponents, he declared that the canteen scandals' in tho South African War overshadowed the recent canteen trouble which- arose at a time when there was a, record in the transport of 8000 troops and 3000 horses ' a distance of 16,000 miles. He appealed for a fair fight and no favour. A vote of thanks and confidence, and an amendment of thanks only, was proposed. The voting was fairly even, and tho Mayor declared the motion carried.
