ASSESSMENT COURT
The sittings of -fehe Assessment Court' were concluded in Wellington "yesterday, morning. Mr. W. G.. Riddell, S.M., presided, and sitting with Mm as. assessors wore Messrs. H. E. Leighton (for-the Valuation Department) and T. Dwan (for tho City Corporation). Mr. M. Myers appeared as counsel for the Department. The valuation of Mrs. Mary Scott's property, part section 117 Willis Street,. 37ft. by 165 ft., was sustained as follows :—Capital value £1980, unimproved : value £1480, improvements £500. Riichard James Grimmett objected to tho valuation of part section 378, Roxburgh Street, 35ft; x 224 ft. Tho assessment wae as follows":—Capital 'value, £850; unimproved' value, £700; improvements, £150. In support of the objection it T.as submitted that tho land had been in the market at a lower value than that at which- it-was assessed, and that no sales in the locality had been recorded at such a figure. ' Tho Court reduced the capital- value to £800, and the unimproved value to £CSO. The value of the improvements was sustained. There being no further objections to hear, the Court adjourned.
