ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
DUNEDIN DROWNING ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph—Press" Association;) Dunedln, October 16. The inquest on the body of.Robert Walter. Saddler, 13 years of age, who was drowned iu the Kaikorai Stream, was held to-day. Tho evidence showed that a boat in which Saddler and his brother were paddling started to sink. Tho deceased remained seated in tho boat until it almost sank, and then climg to it. • ■ A verdict of accidental death was re-, turned. SUICIDE AT HAMILTON. Hamilton, October 16. : Edwin .Howe, a man 22 years of age) was found.dead in a boardjnghouse at Morrinsville this morning, shot through the head. Evidence at the inquest showed that the deceased was a late member of the. R.N:Z.A. • He arrived at To Aroha from Wellington a fortnight ago. Prior to going to Morrinsvillo he had been drinking heavily. A verdict of euicide while temporarily insane was returned.
RAILWAY GUARD INJURED. Auckland, October 17. James Alan Gordon, a railway, guard, was very seriously injured at Wellsford, about seventy-two^miles north .of Auckland, this morning, as the result of being crushed between' a truck and the. staging; _. Gordon is a married man about thirty years of age. AN OLD MAN'S. DEATH. An old man •named John Hughes, aged 59, who. was admitted to. the Ohiro Road Home'on Thursday afterr noon, was found dead in his bed there yesterday morning. He had not complained of feeling unwell. An inquest will be held at 9.30 a.m. to-day.
