Provision was made that where the land required to be taken comprised lands, owned by Natives, fitting notice of the intention should be given in the Maori "Gazette." Clause 54 provides that "on the issue of an Order-in-Council a board may construct and maintain a Tailway. The ■Council added to-it the following subclause:—"Tho board may enter into any such contract with the Minister of Public Works, and the, Minister of lic Works is hereby authorised to mako any such. contract with the board for the. construction or maintenance of railway .by the Department of Public ■Works at the costs and charges of. ih N board or for any such.purpose or matter as is referred to in Sub-section One hereof.? , Y \. , ...
