At Caulficld the weather was fine but dull for the second day of the Victoria Amateur Turf Club's meeting. There was a big attendance. Results of 'the races arc as follow: — EMO HURDLE RACE, of 250 sovs. Two miles and 01 yards. Mr. A. Mathcson's b. g. AVou by three-quarters of a length, with threo lengths between second and third. Time, 3miii. 51isec. MONA NURSERY HANDICAP, of 650 sots. For two-year-olds. Four furlongs and a half. Mr. G. Woodforde's b. f. Celosia, by Linacre (imp.)—Gaillardia, Bst. 51b. 1 Nicauor, Bst. 31b 2 Colonel Light, 7st. 131b. 3 There were twenty starters. The winner led throughout, and won by two lengths and a half, -frith four lengths between second and third. Time, so.fsec. ECLIPSE STAKES, of 600 sovs. For three-year-olds and upwards. AVeight-for-age. One mile and three furlongs. Mr. E. A. Conolly's b. m. Anna Carlovna, by Soult (imp.)—Czarevna, syrs 1 Rathlea 2 Newbery 3 Also started: Aurifer, Sir Alwynton, and St. Carwyno. . Nowbery led to the mile post, and at the end of another furlong had a lead of twelve lengths from Aurifer, Rathlea, and St. Carwyne,: while Anna Carlovna was just behind, the field. Five furlongs from home the field closed on Newbery,, and rounding the turn Anna Carlovna was alongside the leaders. Anna Carlovna was in front at the distance, and won by a neck, with a head separating second and third. Aurifer and St. Alwynton wero last. Time, 2min. 13jsee.
