HUNTLY DISASTER
. RELIEF FOE THE BEREAVED. _ The position of the widows of the victims of the Huutly disaster in regard to the local Mines Relief Fund, regarding which a question was asked in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, was explained in tho House yesterday afternoon by tlio Minister,of Alines (jthe Hon. W. Eraser), He said that tho applications for benefits from the fund must be forwarded to tho Mines Department, which would then send them, to the Public Trustee, who was administering tho fund. The amount which each widow was entitled to receive was £50, and a funeral allowance* of £15, making a total of £65. The fund was. about £7000 in credit, so that all clainiß could bo met. In reply to a further question from Mr. Mr. Frasey said that ho would consider tho question of arranging with an officer of his Depari ment to receive applications at Huntly Tho Wellington Freezing Workers' Union decided at its last meeting held at Petono to donate £20 towards the Huntly Relief Fund, and £5 to tho Labour Day celebrations.
