ON THE MAIN RAILWAYS. NEW TIMETABLES SOME IMPORTANT ALTERATIONS. The preparation of the new railway time-table for the North Island, which: will come into operation on November 18. has been' so far advanced that some information was obtainable yesterday.as to the principal 'alterations in the express services. ,' . < Both the Main Trunk expresses are being "speeded up." The train which now leave's Auckland, at noon will, under the now time-table, leave there at 12.40 p.m., and arrive at Wellington at 6.26 a.m., instead of 6.60 a.m., as at present. The time occupied on the journey will thus bo shortened from 18 hours 50 minutes to 17 hours 46 minutes, a saving of 64 minutes. The time or departureof the night express from Auckland will-be chanced from 9.10 p.m. to-B.GO p.m., and tho Bxpress will reach Wellington at 2.40 p.m. instead of 4.12 p.m. The length Df time expended on the journey will, therefore, be shortened from' 19 hours 2. minutes to 17 hours 60 minutes, a saving of 72 minutes. The express which now leaves Wellington at 11.50 a.m. will.leave at, 1.1(7. p:m., and arrive in at 6.43 a.m., instead of 6.55 a.m. On this run the time occupied will be reduced from , 19 hours 5. minutes to' 17 hours 33 minutes, a saving of 1 hour 32 minutes. The train-leaving Wellington at night will start at 9.10 p.m./ as at present. It will reach Auckland at 2.65 p.m., instead of 4.12 p.m. The time occupied will thus be reduced from 19 hours 2 minutes to 17. hours 46 minutes, a saving of one hour 17- minutes.

It will continue to leave Auckland at 10 a.m., but will'.reach Rotorua at 5.40 p.m. instead 0f.5.50 p.m., thus saving ten minutes'.'
