NAPIER NOTES.
_ Tho following motion has, been carried by tho Hastings Chamber of Commerce :—"That this Chamber requests the New Zealand High Commissioner to urge upon the British manufacturers of thoso linos commonly made in Germany the necessity of getting into touch with the New Zealand markets without any undue delay." At the Napier Court to-day a man named Victor Smith was convicted' and ordered to come up for sentenco when called upon on a chargo of having stolen Maori curios, valued at £20, from his employer, Edward Bibby, of Waipawa. At the next meeting of tho Hastings Borough Council Councillor Fowler will move: "That no person bp employed on the labouring staff who is the owner of unencumbered property of the value of £2000 or over."
