DISTRESS RELIEF FUND
FOR THE POOR OF GREAT BRITAIN, ; IRELAND AND BELGIUM. At" a meeting of the executive; of the Poor of GTeat Britain, Ireland, and Belgium Relief Fund yesterday, it was reported that the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Fanners' /Union had decided to support the fund, and would do everything possible to secure the assistance of the branches, of the union throughout the Dominion. It was. also deoided that while it should bo adopted as a general principle to • send contributions in Kind, where practicable, that in the meantime cash donations should be remitted in cash for distribution in. Great Britain, Ireland,' and Belgium. > The Shipments Sub-committee reported that the first consignment from Wellington had been shipped per s.s. Star of Australia,- and consisted of 12 cases of clothing and the donation of frozen meat from the Tokomaru Freezing Company, Ltd. It was also decided to arrange for the posting of placards setting forth the claims of the fund, and to endeavour to secure the authority of the Tramway Department to have them posted in the various tramway waiting-snede. It was resolved to acknowledge with many thanks the offor received through the Mayoress, Mrs. J. P. Luke, of the services of the Committee of the Countess of Liverpool's Fund in the packing and sorting of consignments of clothes. i ■WELLINGTON DONATIONS.
