BRITONS IN ACTION
We have in this morning's "Times," Bays the "Westminster Gazette" of recent date, .two pictures of the Briton in action. The first is about our Army at Mons before tho fighting began on Sunday: , "When with heavy firing audible in ,\ the distance, the British soldier can sit Quietly on the banks of a canal, perhaps to-morrow to be choked with dead, calmly fishing, with his bayoneted. rifle as a fishing rod, the spectacle inspires trust, oven though from every direction in tho countryside tiio presence of tho all-pervading Gorman cavalry is reported." The other is an account of tho chaso of tho Goeben and the Breslau by tho Gloucester: — "The chase lasted two Jays- and tiights. The gun-layer of the Gloucester, after missing with tho first shot, 6pat on the second for luck. The shot carried away half tho Breslau's funnel. The gun-layer repeated the operation on the next shot, and this cleared her quarter-deck, and put tho aftgun out of action." Wo shall not forget tho Tommy who fished with 0 a ride and tho sailor who spa: for luck. ,
