RE-ARMED AND PUT IN THE TRENCHES Paris, October 11. The cavalry, during _ the battle of Aisn©, bored with inaction, petitioned General Allenby (commander of the cavalry) to be allowed to serve in the trenches. Ab their carbines were useless, General Allenby armed a third of the cavalry,with rifles and bayonets similar to thoso used by tho mounted infantry in South Africa.
