(Rec. October 11, 10.30 a.m.) .London, October 9. Tho Secretary of tho Sugar Beet Council advocates the establishment of ten factories, costing £4,000,000, which in two years would be able to produce about 100,000 tons, of sugar.
WEST AUSTRALIAN ELECTIONS.
Perth, October 10. Nominations for the Assembly havo closed. Twelve Labour, one Liberal, and one Country Party were returned unopposed, leaving thirty-six seats to bo contested. The Labour Party's principal issues are the abolition of the Legislative Council and the imposition of a progressive war tax.
FEDERAL SUPPLY BILL.

MACQUARIE WIRELESS STATION.
Melbourne, October 10. Sir Douglas Mawson has requested the Government to continue the wireless station at Macquarie Island for meteorological purposes.
GOLD'DISCOVERIES.
