King Carol and his Queen had no children, and the heir to the throno is Princo Ferdinand, a nephew' of the King, who ivas born in Germany, 'u ISft.), and became Prince of Rumania in 1889, threo years after his brother had renounced the succession. Ho is Inspec-tor-Genoral of the Rumanian Army, and is married to a princess of the house of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
