LITTLE GIRL MISSING
STRAYS FROM A PICNIC PARTY. (By Telegraph.—Special Coireepondeiit.) , ■ Pahlatua, October 5. A picnic party left Pahiatua on Sunday morning in a motor lorry for Kakariki, near Hukanui, some 18 milcjs from Pahiatua. About half au.hour after lunch Vera Yewen, .between three and four years' old, a daughter of Mr. Walter Yowen, Pahiatua, was missed. Her parents made a search, but no trace was found, and the whole party, assisted by residents, made a search till ovening. The male members of the party and the Pahiatua police remained i all night. Another search party from Pahiatua ; was-organised to-day, but up' to this evening there was no trace of the missing girl. The locality is near the Mangahao River, with patches of bush and scrub, with burnt logs in. tho open spaces. . _^^____
