ALIENS RESTRICTION AT HOME PORTS

The following extract from the' Aliens' Restriction Order-in-Council on the outbreak of war issued by the Secretary of State for tie Home Department is of interest: — ,„,. • "On and after August 6, 19H, ?a pursuance of the above order, the following ports will be approved ports :— Aberdeen. Dundee, West Haftlepoolj Hull, London, Folkestone, Falmouth, Bristol, Holyhead, Liverpool, Greenock, Dublin, Rosslare. And all other ports will be prohibited ports. "On and after the same date the following regulations will, apply, to ■•■all ships arriving at or leaving a port wne-. ther from or to foreign or coastwise:—' "1. No person, whether British or alien, will be allowed to land or em-, bark without the leave of an Aliens Of-. "ll—British subjects will be allowed; to-land or embark at any port. "lll.—Alien enemies—at the date or this notice subjects of/the' German Empire—will be allowed to land or embark at the approved, port only when furnished with a permit from a Secretary of State, and will not be allowed to land or to embark at a port; provided that alien enemies may: embark at approved ports without.such' permits before August 11. "Alien friends, i.e., aliens other than alien enemies, will be allowed to land or to embark at an approved port only with the leave of an Aliens Officer, and will not be allowed to land or to embark at a prohibited port except by express direction of the Secretary of State.
