LAWN TENNIS
WELLINGTON CLUB,
. On Saturday afternoon, the Wellington Lawn Tennis Club's season was formally opened at tho club's courts in Palmer Street. There was a tine muster of players and their friends, in spite of the many counter-attractions in the opening of the various bowling clubs and the Military • Carnival at the Park. At 3 p.m., Mr. W. Eraser, ono of the vice-presidents, in declaring the season opened, welcomed the visitors and thanked them for their presence. He apologised for tho' absence of Dr. l'oung, tho president, wno was to have been present, and had unfortunately been prevented from being with them. A photographic group of visitors and players was taken, and they were then entertained at afternoon tea.
Practice games were then indulged in. Among the visiting players were: Mrs. Goldie, Misses Stevens, Speedy, and Nunneley, Messrs. Peacock, Sal&ond, and Swanston. . "
