The going was good, and the attendance - large. Neither Merrimax hor : '■ Rajah'' was prominent in the Hurdle race, Capintesta scoring easily. , The publio selected Diva's Isle in the Trial Stakes, and the horse scored a popular win. A majority/ placed their confidence in . Woorak to win the Derby. He was always prominent throughout the race, but Mountain Knight, ably steered by • M'Laohlan, snatched the victory within the last few yards. Royal Laddie, the popular, fancy in the Epsom Handicap, made no showing.. The race looked a good thing tor Aurifer until PortrusK challenged at the. distance, and won comfortably. A. big, field went to the post in the Kensington Handicap, including Bon lln,'-' Binieter, Cainulus, and Tatterley. The last-named put up a great race, and scored, by a narrow margin.
